1965 Mustang - Good as Gold

When Greg Raf pulled into our Retail Showroom parking lot in this clean 1965 Mustang, we knew we had to get a closer look. Greg, who was passing through Huntington Beach during a road trip from his hometown of San Jose, California, told us that this car has been part of his family since 1983. Unsurprisingly, he's not planning to let go of it. He has put a substantial amount of work into restoring and modifying this classic Ford.

1966 Mustang - A Gift Horse

The phrase "don't look a gift horse in the mouth" may seem like a rather strange saying, but it makes more sense when you know the origin. It refers to the practice of evaluating a horse's age and health by looking at its teeth — in other words, questioning the value of a gift by inspecting it for small flaws. When Chuck Stubbings, of Huntington Beach, California, received this 1966 Mustang as a gift, it had its fair share of flaws. However, he happily overlooked them and embraced the opportunity for a fun restoration project.

1965 Mustang - American Stallion

In 1965, Ford changed the course of automotive history with the first full model year of Mustang production. Technically, the Mustang was first available in mid-1964 as what enthusiasts call a "1964 1/2", but the success Ford achieved in these early months and years built a foundation for decades of greatness. The restored 1965 Mustang pictured here belongs to Bernard Alvano, of Huntington Beach, California.

1969 Mustang Mach 1 - The Speed of Sound

In 1947, U.S. Air Force pilot Chuck Yeager broke the sound barrier in a Bell X-1 aircraft, officially becoming the first pilot to exceed Mach 1 on a level flight path. In 1969, Ford paid homage to this extreme feat of speed with a new high-performance option package dubbed the Mustang Mach 1. The Mach 1 would prove to be a formidable rival to the Chevy Camaro SS and Pontiac Trans Am, and worthy of its striking name.

1966 Mustang Fastback - Restored Barn Find

It never fails to amaze us when we see a gorgeous classic car, and learn that just a few short years ago, it was a basket case peppered with dents, scratches, and cobwebs. The transformation from a neglected lawn ornament to a gleaming and purring restored ride is truly astonishing each and every time.

Tony Munoz, of Pomona, California, purchased this 1966 Mustang Fastback about 9 years ago. He bought it from a childhood neighbor — after seeing it every day as a kid, this iconic pony car made an indelible impression. Many years later, he was finally able to convince its original owner to part ways with the car.

In the world of classic vehicles, there are quite a few people who may be considered knowledgeable about any given model, especially a model as popular as the first-generation Ford Mustang. A knowledgeable person can pretty much tell you what year your vehicle is by looking at the front grill or an identifiable detail. That's more than most casual onlookers could ascertain.
