For many of us, restoring a classic car or truck is a fun and rewarding process. We enjoy getting our hands dirty and overcoming all the challenges along the way. But for others, the main goal is to own and drive a restored vehicle, not necessarily to build it. In those cases, buying a turn-key, completed project may be the logical choice. High-end shops such as Ringbrothers and ICON have expert craftsmen who can build exactly what you want for a price. The subject of today's article, Velocity Restorations, also falls into that category. They built this restomodded '71 Ford truck with a 5.0L Coyote V8 and a ton of custom touches.
Velocity Restorations "F-150" Bumpside
Ford truck enthusiasts might find the term "1971 F-150" jarring, since Ford never introduced an F-150 model until 1975, when it became the middle ground between the F-100 and F-250. This truck started life as a '71 F-100, but now rides on a beefed-up Roadster Shop frame and Dana 44 & 60 axles, so Velocity calls it an F-150.
The frame was also equipped with a custom aluminum fuel tank and relocated fuel filler neck inside the bed. The original filler neck behind the cab is still present, but only to maintain a factory look.
This truck is powered by a 460-horsepower Coyote 5.0L V8 and 10-speed automatic transmission. Velocity also fabricated custom headers and exhaust, and developed a unique serpentine belt setup for this configuration. The truck also comes with hydroboosted Wilwood disc brakes at all four corners.
The exterior paint is a custom two-tone of Glasurit Eruption Green and Wimbledon White. These colors are offset by original-style trim in some areas, and custom billet accents in other places. The hood side emblems, door handles, and trunk latch were all machined in-house by Velocity. However, the original-style chrome bumpers and grille maintain a classic appearance.
The inside of this truck's cab is equally impressive, with custom door panels and bench seats upholstered in a plaid-stitched leather pattern. Those billet window cranks might look manual, but they actually control the automatic window switches.
Above: This truck's interior is finished in Velocity's luxurious "Heritage Leather" package.
The cab also features an Ididit tilt steering column, Sparc steering wheel, Dakota Digital gauges, Vintage Air A/C, and a touchscreen stereo with Focal audio speakers. There's also a backup camera integrated seamlessly into the tailgate latch.
This is one seriously cool turn-key Ford truck build, but you might need to brace yourself a little for the pricetag: $339,900. Check out the listing on Velocity's site, or watch the full walkaround video below for more details:
