Video: 800hp "Rhodium" 1968 Camaro by East Bay Muscle Cars

Rhodium is a very rare, bright silver metal known for its hardness, resistance to corrosion, and high reflectivity. As a result of its scarcity, it's also one of the most valuable precious metals, far exceeding the value of of gold or platinum. Given these characteristics, Rhodium seems like a very fitting name for this exquisite '68 Camaro crafted by East Bay Muscle Cars. It features lots of custom metalwork, one-of-a-kind 3D-printed components, an 800hp ProCharged LT4 V8, and an interior that looks like it could've come out of a brand new supercar.

EBMC's Rhodium Camaro Build

East Bay Muscle Cars is located in Tracy, CA, and has been building show-stopping custom cars since 2007. This Camaro debuted at SEMA 2019, but unlike many SEMA builds that fade into obscurity after a year or two, it appears to have stood the test of time. That's a testament to both the build quality and the clean, understated design.

The film crew from Autotopia LA documented this '68 Camaro at the collection of its new owner, Kent Matranga. According to Matranga, the car had 3,600 miles on it when he bought it, which was a good indication that it was pretty well dialed-in and not just a trailer queen.

This Camaro rides on a complete Chris Alston's Chassisworks suspension system with cantilevered rear shocks that are visible from the trunk and the interior. It also has huge Wilwood disc brakes and a set of center-lock 19-inch Forgeline wheels wrapped in 305 and 335 tires.

The fenders were widened subtly to fit the wheel and tire setup, but that's only the start of this car's custom bodywork. The front lip, vented hood, rear spoiler, tail panel, and diffuser are all made specifically for this Camaro. The mirrors were replaced by a set of 2018 Mustang mirrors on custom 3D-printed arms.

Under the hood, there's a GM Performance LT4 V8, but rather than use the supercharger it came with, EMBC installed a ProCharger that boosted power to roughly 800hp. It's matched with a Tremec T56 manual transmission and Ford 9-inch rear end with 3.50 gears and Positraction.

The interior of this car is truly special and looks as refined as the cockpit of a modern Italian supercar. It was done by DJ Designs of Nevada in a combination of mirror-finish gloss black, silver, and bright red. The large gauges, flat-bottom billet steering wheel, and six-speed shifter make it clear this isn't just a luxury cruiser, it's a proper muscle car.
