Take one look at this 1966 Chevy Nova, and it's clear that it falls into the restomod category. Some elements have been restored using original-style parts, while others have been modified or replaced with modern components. The lowered stance, large billet wheels, blacked-out bumpers and trim, and carbon fiber chin spoiler are all characteristic cues for this style of build. However, the changes to this Nova are much more than skin deep.
This car belongs to William Anderson, of Santa Fe Springs, California. He tells us that every nut and bolt has been restored or upgraded, including numerous parts from the Classic Industries Chevy II / Nova catalog. Most of the sheetmetal was replaced with original-style parts, aside from the aggressive cowl hood.
The '66 Nova's body was then repainted in Crystal Red, a color found on the 6th generation Camaro. It beautifully accentuates the car's sweeping lines, and contrasts with the bumpers, trim, and emblems, which were all painted gloss black. New original-style lighting and glass finished off the exterior.
The Nova's interior features new black bucket seats, carpet kit, and dash pad, as well as a modernized gauge cluster and aftermarket steering wheel. The trunk was finished in grey carpet with fitted panels to cover the widened wheel tubs. A bow tie emblem serves as a finishing touch.
William selected 5-spoke billet wheels finished in gloss black to match the exterior trim. A performance suspension kit tucks these wheels into the fenders, and gives the Nova improved high-speed maneuverability.
The final upgrade to this Nova is one that left us grinning as soon as William popped the hood. Its billet hinges opened to reveal a heavily-modified LS motor that's been bored and stroked to 462 cubic inches. We're told it produces 760 horsepower — a number that provides more than enough performance to back up this Nova's aggressive appearance.
William drives his Nova on weekends and often takes it to car shows in the Southern California area. Whether it's sitting still with the hood open, rumbling into a show, or obliterating the tires off the line, it always draws a crowd.
