When Pennsylvania car enthusiast Mick Wood first laid eyes on a gutted 1968 Chevrolet Camaro, most would’ve seen an impossible project. No glass, no interior, no drivetrain—just a bare shell with potential. But with the help of his son, and a full lineup of Classic Industries restoration parts, Mick transformed that forgotten relic into a head-turning muscle car he proudly calls “Sinister ’68.”
This two-year father-and-son build blends timeless Camaro style with modern performance and comfort—an incredible showcase of craftsmanship, creativity, and passion for the Chevy legacy.
Rebuilding a 1968 Camaro from the Ground Up
When Mick bought the Camaro in 2023, it was little more than an empty frame—no interior, no front end, and nothing under the hood except a 12-bolt rear. Over the next two years, he set out to rebuild every inch of the car, taking on nearly every step himself.
Under the hood now roars a 383 stroker engine, sending power through a TKX 5-speed manual transmission for precise, modern shifting. A Global West suspension system keeps the car composed through tight corners and smooth at highway speeds, making Sinister ’68 as enjoyable to drive as it is to admire.
A Custom Look: Lithium Gray with a Sinister Edge
Mick’s vision was simple—make it mean. The result is a Camaro that lives up to its name. The body wears a custom Lithium Gray finish, accented by subtle black pinstriping that highlights its muscular curves.
Every detail was carefully chosen for a sleek, stealthy look: shaved bumpers, black billet door handles, and blacked-out window moldings give the car a streamlined, aggressive profile. Even the new dark-tinted glass completes the theme, ensuring the car looks menacing from every angle.
Inside the “Sinister ’68”: Classic Industries Parts Bring It to Life
Inside, Mick turned to Classic Industries for a full interior transformation. The car features brand-new factory-style components paired with Procar Rally seats, striking the perfect balance between vintage aesthetics and modern comfort.
Every inch—from the dash to the door panels—showcases the quality and authenticity that Classic Industries restoration parts are known for. It’s a space that feels both nostalgic and refined, perfectly complementing the car’s bold exterior personality.
A Father-and-Son Camaro Project to Remember
For Mick, this project was never just about the car—it was about the experience. “I did everything to this car except spray the paint,” he recalls. “It was a fun project that my son helped me with.”
Together, they turned long weekends and late nights into lasting memories—and a machine that embodies their shared love of muscle cars. Now, as Sinister ’68 prowls the streets of Lewistown, Pennsylvania, Mick and his son are already knee-deep in their next build: a 1970 Chevy Nova that’s sure to carry the same spirit of craftsmanship and family tradition.
