Giulio Forstall’s 1968 Chevrolet Camaro – A Restomod Cruiser with Character

1968-Camaro-red-front-GF-copyAt Classic Industries, we love celebrating the passion and dedication of restoration enthusiasts across the country. Today, we’re excited to spotlight a new submission to our Featured Restoration Photo Upload Form—a sleek and personal take on a muscle car icon by Giulio Forstall from Keller, Texas.

The Build: A 1968 Chevrolet Camaro with Personality

Giulio's 1968 Chevrolet Camaro is a testament to what can be achieved when vision meets vintage muscle. Originally purchased as a project car in July 2024, the Camaro’s exact heritage is still a bit of a mystery. “Still trying to determine what it was born as before it got cloned,” Giulio notes, adding that it may have started life as a Rally Sport (RS) with a 327, based on the body emblems. Today, it houses a 307 small-block under the hood—a modest but reliable powerplant for cruising.

“When life gives you lemons, do a top end refresh anyway,” he adds with a wink, showcasing the resilience and creativity so common among restoration fans.

Under the Hood & Beyond

Engine:

  • 307 small-block Chevy
  • Top-end refreshed for improved reliability

Transmission:

  • Classic Muncie 4-speed manual – giving that nostalgic, hands-on muscle car driving experience

Suspension:

  • Stock geometry, but lowered for a more aggressive and modern stance

Subtle Mods, Bold Results

What makes this Camaro stand out is Giulio’s restraint and taste for subtle customization. It’s not a trailer queen or an over-the-top showstopper—it’s a mild cruiser with clean lines and thoughtful mods that nod to its muscle heritage while making it more enjoyable on today’s roads.

Exterior Modifications Include:

  • Tire stickers for a motorsport-inspired aesthetic
  • Bullet lug nuts
  • OEM-style windshield wipers to preserve the vintage look

Interior Upgrades:

  • Autometer gauge cluster for modern monitoring with classic styling
  • Custom shift knob adding personal flair
  • Console-mounted cup holders, making cruising that much more comfortable

Built to Cruise and Show

Though limited to around-town drives and weekend car shows, Giulio’s Camaro has already made its mark—winning “a few Best Of” awards at local events. It’s a perfect example of how even a moderate build can become a crowd favorite when authenticity, attention to detail, and personal style shine through.

What's Next?

Giulio’s not done yet. Future plans for the Camaro include:

  • Installing a factory-look stereo to blend modern functionality with vintage design
  • Swapping in 3.73 rear gears for better acceleration and overall drivability

In Giulio's Words

“This is a mild cruiser... won a few Best ofs... Oh well, when life gives you lemons, do a top end refresh anyway.”

We’re proud to showcase Giulio Forstall’s Camaro as a prime example of what the restoration community is all about—personal vision, dedication, and the joy of the journey.
