"This isn't just a replica, it's a reproduction — it has the DNA of the original Mustang, but it's evolved with modern technology," explained Tom Scarpello, founder and CEO of Revology. On a recent episode of Jay Leno's Garage, Scarpello showed Leno around one of the roughly 200 made-to-order Mustangs his company has built at its Orlando, Florida factory. Each car starts with a bare unibody and moves through a 26-stage assembly line, finishing as a complete classic Mustang that has been fully updated to drive, perform, and feel like a modern, high-end sports car.

Revology builds everything from 1966 Mustang convertibles to 1968 Shelby GT500KRs, but this '68 Mustang is a GT 2+2 Fastback with the Cobra Jet package that adds an optional supercharged 5.0 "Coyote" V8 engine. This Ford/ROUSH Performance engine produces 710 horsepower and is paired with a six-speed manual transmission.

Scarpello mentioned that Revology has gone out of its way to use as many OEM Ford parts as possible, including a radiator from a current-generation Mustang GT.

Each Revology Mustang also includes Wilwood big brakes with 6-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers, as well as power rack and pinion steering, a carbon fiber driveshaft, and a custom Borla exhaust system.

The Acapulco Blue metallic body has been upgraded with modern touches like polyurethane bonded glass, power windows with switches concealed in the manual window cranks, new door hinges and latches, and an electronically-actuated trunk latch. The goal was to create a car that feels like an upscale new car from the moment you touch the door handle.

Inside the Revology Mustang, LED-lit gauges are recessed into a real walnut dash panel, and the doors and dash pad are wrapped in real leather instead of vinyl. There are also modern features like three-point belts, a dual-circuit braking system, and a fuel shutoff inertia switch to keep occupants safe.

Leno took the car out for a spin and enjoyed the mix of classic Mustang style and modern road feel. Check out the full video from Jay Leno's Garage below:
