The devil's in the details. Looking at the photo of this 1969 Camaro, you might not think it's anything too unusual, just a cool resto-modded car with clean paint, a lowered stance, and a nice set of wheels. But as you take a closer look, you'll start to see details that show just how much money has been put into the build: Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, an 800hp LS9 supercharged V8, a custom rollcage, and much more. YouTube channel AutotopiaLA spoke to the builder, Timeless Kustoms, and learned that this car cost approximately $480,000 plus the price of the donor '69 Camaro.
"There's probably $200,000 in parts on this car," explained Jason Pecikonis of Timeless Kustoms. Right off the bat, the Pirelli tires, 19x10 and 19x12-inch HRE wheels, and Brembo carbon ceramic brakes cost roughly $40,000.
Then there's the Detroit Speed suspension system with JRI double-adjustable shocks, plus a chromoly 14-point rollcage to keep the chassis rigid and protect occupants. Timeless Kustoms aimed for a perfect 50/50 weight distribution in order to keep the Camaro as nimble as possible.
The car is powered by an LS9 V8 with a Comp cam and Kong 2650 supercharger pushing 14psi of boost, resulting in 800 horsepower at the crank and over 680 horsepower to the wheels on pump gas. This engine is backed by a Tremec Magnum 6-speed transmission with Centerforce twin-disc clutch and Ford 9-inch differential with Eaton True-Trac and 3.55:1 gears.
As for the body, a "less is more" approach was taken. Rather than huge flared fenders and other aggressive metalwork, Timeless Kustoms lightly massaged the existing sheetmetal. Drip rails were shaved, bumpers tucked, and a front spoiler was fabricated. But other elements such as the rear spoiler were left entirely stock.
Of course, the interior also received an equal level of attention. Red Recaro bucket seats were installed along with Simpson harnesses and a Sparco steering wheel for a track-prepped feel. The rear seat was deleted and replaced with a custom-upholstered panel. These race-inspired mods are balanced by luxurious red upholstery on the doors, power windows, and a red suede headliner that conceals the upper portion of the roll cage.
The end result of this half-million-dollar project is a car that, in our opinion, is much cooler than any comparably-priced new exotic car. It has all the style and sleek lines of a 1969 Camaro, but with modern horsepower, handling, braking, and comfort. Check out the full video below from AutotopiaLA to hear it in action:
