Revology 1969 Boss 429 Mustang Restomod

The term "restomod" can be interpreted a number of different ways. To many enthusiasts, a restomod is simply a restored car with a few off-the-shelf aftermarket upgrades installed. However, Revology sees their 1969 Boss 429 Mustang as a vehicle that pushes the limits of this term. Tom Scarpello, founder and CEO of Revology, explains, "Technically it's a restomod, but in reality, it's not... it's so far from just a collection of parts bolted to an existing car." Revology's vision for a modernized Boss 429 resulted in a car with some impressive engineering under its classic 1960s-era surface.

"Reimagining a Legend"

Mustang fans know that the original 1969 Boss 429 is legendary, but also that it's quite rare to find a real one in good shape these days. Only 859 Boss 429s were produced that year, with another 499 produced in 1970, and only a fraction of those are still around today. If you can find an all-original survivor, it won't be cheap — one recently sold at Mecum auction for $570,000.

Revology set out to preserve the original style and spirit of the Boss 429, but with some substantial upgrades to power, handling, technology, and luxury. The company says each Revology Boss 429 is factory-assembled with an OEM-grade process, and is backed by a warranty just like any new car.

The chassis of each car is assembled on a custom framing fixture using automated welding and heat-cured structural adhesives for improved stiffness and reduced noise and vibration. Modern polyurethane-bonded glass and original-style body panels, bumpers, and trim are installed to complete the body.

While the exterior may look like a pristine 1969 car, there are upgrades under the surface such as power windows, power mirrors, and an OEM-style CAN bus electrical system.

Revology offers nearly 30 exterior color choices, ranging from Mustang staples like Candy Apple Red and Acapulco Blue to modern sportscar hues like Porsche's Miami Blue and Lava Orange.

The car is powered by a 710hp supercharged Gen 4 Ti-VCT Coyote V8 fitted with a heavy-duty oil cooler and radiator with high-output fan. It can be ordered with a T-56XL six-speed manual transmission or 10R80 automatic transmission. Six-piston and four-piston disc brakes come standard, and calipers can be selected in one of five color options.

It rides on 17x9.5-inch Magnum 500 wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 (standard) or Michelin Pilot Sport 2 (optional) tires.

The Revology Boss 429 features a modern aluminum front subframe with double-wishbone suspension, power hydraulic rack and pinion steering, and specially-tuned springs and shocks at all four corners.

The interior starts with your choice of standard nylon or optional wool carpet, as well as bucket seats and door panels finished in your choice of standard vinyl or optional leather. More than two dozen leather color combinations are available, as well as contrast piping, color accents, and perforation.

The three-spoke steering wheel is wrapped in leather, and just behind it you'll find a set of Dakota Digital gauges in an original-style wood gauge cluster. A Pioneer touchscreen stereo head unit with backup camera is also standard.

Although the Revology Boss 429 may not be as expensive as a pristine, all-original Boss 429 survivor, it's still pricey, starting at $395,000. You can read more about it at Revologycars.com or check out the full options list here.
