The GOAT Ford Bronco 1966-1996

The 1969 Ford Bronco in the lead photo is affectionately named "Big Oly" for obvious reasons. Drivers Parnelli Jones and Bill Stroppe won with Big Oly in the 1971 Baja 1000, the 1972 Baja 1000, the 1973 Baja 500, and the 1973 Mint 400. The Bronco was built to Parnelli Jones' specs of being stronger, lighter, and faster. With its chrome moly tubed space frame and fiberglass and aluminum bodywork, Big Oly has a dry weight of 2,620 pounds. The go fast part is achieved with a 351 CI Ford Windsor V8 that makes 390 horses on high-octane racing fuel. Giddy up!

For those of us who grew up in the sixties and seventies, Chevy's Camaro has been the ever constant familiar face in a frequently changing automotive climate. We've ridden the tides of change, from hot factory high-performance cars in the 1960s, to the decidedly lame Detroit iron of the 1970s. It was a long dry spell before the lords of Woodward Avenue and Van Nuys Boulevard would get back to the business of burning rubber from traffic light to traffic light in the mid-1980s.

1970-73 F-Body Passenger Floor Pan | Without Converter Hump

"What happened to your floor?" is a question familiar to F-body owners. The catalytic converter hump in the right floor pan, just in front of the seat, has puzzled fans of symmetry and warmed the legs of passengers since 1974. Owners of (smog exempt) 2nd gen vehicles can replace their floor with the 70-73 version to delete the hump and gain valuable leg room, while 3rd and 4th gen owners are left to their own devices.
