Founder of the Ford Motor Company and inventor of the assembly line at the start of the Industrial Revolution, Henry Ford is famous for saying the following, "Any customer can have a car painted any color that he wants so long as it is black". Now Mr. Ford, mind you, was saying that to save money and time, as the Ford Model T's matriculated down the assembly line from approximately 1914 to 1926. As you lay your eyes on this ink well deep, three dimensional jet-black 1997 GMC Yukon GT 4WD, you're probably wondering what in the heck does a bunch of black tin lizzies training down Henry's production line have to do with this commanding beauty?

Above: In 1996, GMC first equipped the Yukon GT with the GM Vortec 5.7-liter V8 engine. Primo's '97 Yukon GT is still powered by its original, non-rebuilt Vortec V8 mill and backed by its four-speed automatic 4L60E transmission. The 4X4 has just 190,000 miles on it, which equates to about 6,000 miles of travel a year.
Of course, the only commonality is the hue of their exterior paint. The owner of this breathtaking '97 Yukon GT is none other than Andre 'Primo' Primous. You may remember that Mr. Primous has another jet-black vehicle - a 1958 Impala convertible that has every conceivable option Chevrolet managed to equip an Impala drop top with back in the day. We featured his Impala in August of 2024, not too terribly long after a couple of famous artists, Snoop Dogg and separately G Perico were singing, rapping, and hip hopping away while 'Primo' piloted his Impala with impeccable cool and in a rockstar demeanor along the streets of L.A. (Snoop Dogg, actresses, and Eight Ball are just below and another photo from the article).

When a collector car or truck is painted high-gloss jet-black, you better believe that the finish bodywork has to be sublime. Each time with Primo's rides, the fit and finish of those high gloss ebony panels is superb. In fact, rumor has it that Andre's been contacted by some music video moguls about having his rare two-door GMC Yukon GT in another video or two.

Primo was hunting for a rare GMC Yukon GT with the rear barn doors for quite some time, when he found this one listed for sale online in Colorado. An older gentlemen had purchased the Yukon GT new from a Colorado GMC dealer almost 30 years ago. Though Primo's had the 4X4 for less than a year, he has already renewed many components, with several purchased at Classic Industries.

Above: Amazing but true, exact total production numbers for the 1997 GMC Yukon GT have not been publicly released or broken down as a standalone figure by General Motors. It is known that rear barn doors are a very rare option on the already rare two-door Yukon GT.
Ever the perfectionist, Primo entrusted Full Circle paint in Huntington Beach with the jet-black exterior paint refinishing. He then selected some large and in charge 26-inch black mesh wheels and wrapped them in 33-inch mud tires. Power-assisted front disc brakes with speed-sensitive power steering that is paired with GMC's factory recirculating ball steering gear box and linkage system form the basis for the front steering and suspension, said suspension improved with Bilstein gas filled shock absorbers. The rear suspension incorporates a torsion bar setup with leaf springs and a live-axle. Drum rear brakes provide ample braking ability for the rear.
The GMC has a new: front bumper valance, front bumper body filler, headlights, front bumper impact trim, door handles, fender flares, rear bumper rubber step, and front license frame holder - all procured at CI.

Above: James at Full Circle Customs in Huntington Beach, CA, professionally applied that signature Primo jet-black exterior paint, after making sure that all the panels were spot on as well as the door, fender, roof, and quarter panel gaps.

Low production Yukon GT's featured push button 4X4 engagement, power windows and locks, premium leather interior, a matching color front grille, a sporty accessory roof rack and trim package, and exclusive YUKON GT graphic script.
